Corporate Social Responsibility

The management of EITB has incorporated the development of a relationship with the society as one of the strategic projects. With it and, due to our public service nature and our capacity of influence on the society, EITB brand has to be a social point of reference of the government responsible for it.

With it, we wish that the processes and the business activity that the EiTB Group develops generate confidence among the citizens, regardless of whether they use our services or not.

For this reason, within the RSC framework, we have presented a new relational approach with the society in order to develop new participation and communication channels with the stockholders, just as we mention below.

The Company's Social Responsibility should be characterised by:

1. ... aligned with EiTB's Strategy . Its task is to specify and boost even more the speech on the contribution value of EiTB to the society.
2. ... reflection of 5 nuclear values of the identity of the EiTB brand: close, open, avant-garde and cosmopolitan.
3. ... collaborative ... that is based in alliances with stockholders and other partners. The RSC strategy opens new ways to be in the network with the society.

Since its beginning, EiTB has had a clear vocation of public service and of paying attention to the society's demands. Every managerial team has appreciated this reality.
The reflection we have undertaken during 2008 has allowed us to take a new step forward, preparing a plan that integrates and gives sense to all the existing initiatives and that promotes new action lines.

After a long debate held in several premises of the organisation, the EiTB Group has identified six dimensions for the Corporate Social Responsibility.

Dimension 1: Generate complicity with the citizens.  Through projects that answer the communication needs many varied social groups have.

Dimension 2: Project the image of Euskadi in the world. Its aim is contributing to create a new positive image of the Basque Country in other countries, in a moment when more and more Basque citizens mix with international networks due to several reasons. This dimension is a contribution to a demand formulated in the World Café de on June 5, 2008, a day in which a hundred people debated the RSC orientation of EITB.

Dimension 3: Commitment with the Basque language. Its aim is to promote an emotional relationship in favour of the communication in Basque.

Dimension 4: Business sustainability. Its aim is to develop a business management that add value to the society that finances its activity through taxes. Developing a referent  public company management model, under efficiency and efficacy criteria, with satisfactory results.

Dimension 5: Environmental sustainability. Its aim is to promote responsible policies in the use of the resources, minimising the environmental damage and promoting the social awareness, both to the inside and to the outside.

Dimension 6: Social-labor sustainability . Its aim is to promote policies of responsibility with employees and with the young people that are in a training or education process.

As of 2008, EITB develops its Corporate Social Responsibility in these six dimensions, identifying projects and courses of action that are in line with the goals described.
