Spanish police arrested at least 8 members related to so-called "Basque leftist" movement in Hernani, Gipuzkoa. Those being held are suspected of being behind acts of sabotage committed over the last three years and of links to the banned radical Basque youth group Segi.

They are accused of attacks on the Hernani''s "Casa del Pueblo" (pro-socialist bar), burning buses and even of clashes with the Ertzaintza (Basque police).

Around 12 homes and pro-Basque leftists bars were searched in a police operation ordered by the Spanish National High Court Judge Baltasar Garzón.
