Austrian rider Bernhard Eisel won the second stage of the Tour of Switzerland in a sprint finish on Sunday, while home favorite Fabian Cancellara retained the overall lead.

The 28-year-old Team Columbia-Highroad racer timed 3 hours 36 minutes 54 seconds and edged Gerald Ciolek of Germany and Spain''s Oscar Freire in a photo finish. Three-time road race world champion Freire gestured toward Eisel afterward, appearing angered that the winner''s race line helped close off his challenge next to the roadside barrier.

Olympic time trial champion Cancellara, riding for the Saxo Bank team, finished 11th to maintain his overall lead from Saturday''s opening time trial stage.

Germany''s Tony Martin heads the climbers'' classification after leading the field over a category one peak near the end of the 150-kilometer (93-mile)stage. He was caught with six kilometers left.

The nine-day race continues Monday with a 195-kilometer (121-mile) ride from Davos to Lumino.
