French security forces on Tuesday arrested two suspected members of ETA who had been involved in a road traffic accident, according to news agency EFE who were citing sources within the investigation.

The accident took place in the department of Mayenne, in the area of Chateau-Gontier. Spanish Interior Minister Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba informed press that one of the arrested parties - Mardaras - was in a serious condition as a result of the crash.

The two suspected ETA members Ibai Mateo and Ohiana Mardaras were armed and were travelling in a stolen motor vehicle, sources from with the investigation inform.
