ETA member arrested at Madrid's Barajas airport

According to the Spanish Home Office, Juan Manuel Iniciarte Gallardo formed part of the armed group's 'Biscay command' back in the 1980s, and was directly involved in various killings.

On Thursday, Spanish police at Madrid''s Barajas airport detained ETA member Juan Manuel Iniciarte Gallardo, wanted in Spain for his suspected involvement in six killings carried out by the group''s ''Biscay command'' between 1983 and 1985. The arrest follows his expulsion from Mexico due to his irregular circumstances.

Iniciarte Gallardo, sought by the Central Court under Article number 5 of the Supreme National Judiciary, was directly implicated in the assassination of five members of Spain''s National Security Forces as well as the murder of the pregnant wife of a member of the national police, according to the Home Office.

He also stands accused of two launched granade attacks carried out against a police station in Bilbao and a barracks in Biscay.
