Eusko Ikaskuntza, or the Basque Studies Society, has just settled down in the so-called Isozaki Atea, or Isozaki towers in Bilbao, which are the tallest residential buildings in the city and the Basque Country. The also commercial complex was projected by the Japanese architect Arata Isozaki, who won the RIBA gold medal in 1986.

The premises which will host Eusko Ikaskuntza''s headquarters in Biscay have been assigned by the Bilbao County Council. The cultural body is allowed to use the installations of the Isozaki towers for 10 years.

Eusko ikaskuntza is a private scientific and cultural entity, founded in 1918 by the Statutory Diputations of Alava, Biscay, Gipuzkoa and Navarre, as a stable and permanent instrument for the development of Basque culture.
