Specialists in charge of the protocol of Barak Obama, China''s government, and companies such as Microsoft, Novartis, and Iberdrola will be present at the upcoming international congress on protocol that will be held in the Basque city of Bilbao from November, Thursday 19 to Saturday 21, at the Euskalduna Congress Centre.

In the words of Iñaki Azkuna, mayor of Bilbao, the congress "will attract numerous professionals from the public and private sectors who over the course of several days will have a chance to reflect upon, discuss, analyse and propose new ways of applying protocol within its different spheres - official, international, business, and sports."

The council of Bilbao is giving its backing to the meeting promoted by specialists from the International Organisation of Ceremonial and Protocol together with the International School of Bilbao and the Spanish Association of protocol.

About 20 countries will be present in an event focused on codes of behaviour and courtesies. According to the organisers of the congress, "since 1995, when the first Congress was held in Oviedo, to now, approaching the end of the first decade of the 21st century, almost fifteen years have passed in which the profession of events organisers has undergone sea changes that are still going on."

Professor of Psychiatry at the University of New York Luis Rojas Marcos, protocol deputy director of the federal government of the United States Dennis Cheng, chief of protocol of the Chinese administration Zhang Kunsheng, and general manager of the company Paraddax Show Julien Marionnet, who was in charge of the celebrations to mark 40 years since the coup that brought Colonel Muammar Gaddafi to power, will be attending the congress.
