Bilbao''s Guggenheim Museum has launched a photography competition entitled ''Architecture and environment'' via social networking website Facebook, as part of its Frank Lloyd Wright exhibition; the contest is aimed at both professionals and photography enthusiasts.

According to the art gallery, the closing date for those wishing to enter the competition is 31st January 2010.

The competition will be launched on an international scale and, with participation from Samsung, looks to award those photos which best reflect the assimilation of buildings or architectural elements into their environment, in line with one of the principle maxims that marked the career of celebrated architect Frank Lloyd Wright.

The competition welcomes both professional photographers, as well as those who pursue it enthusiastically in their free time and all applicants should be fifteen or over. Only photos which represent the relationship between architecture and environment should be entered by uploading them onto Guggenheim''s Facebook page; photos taken with a reflex, digital or mobile phone camera will be considered.

Every Monday from 23rd November, a panel made up of members from various departments within the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao will consider all the images received. Each week, they will pick one photo to be published on the exhibition''s microsite on Facebook.

As a prize, the author of the winning photo will receive an MP3 Samsung YP-Q2JAB. Those wishing to follow the competition may visit Room 103B in the museum where a giant screen will show its development in real time.
