The University of the Basque Country on Thursday inaugurated the Centre for Research and Advanced Studies of its Alava campus. The new centre was named after Lucio Lascaray (Vitoria-Gasteiz, 1903-1882) , entrepreneur and researcher whose family, who came from Ziburu, French Basque Country, arrived in the Basque capital in 1823.

The centre will be devoted to the study and research on food and drugs by eight renowned teams which have been acclaimed by the Basque government. They will share activities with other 5 Scientific-Technology Services located in the region of Alava.

The new building Lucio Lascaray has spaces reserved for other foreign research groups who reach the quality requirements of the centre.
