Basque Lehendakari Patxi López and minister for Science, Innovation and Technology Cristina Garmendia are presenting two pioneer and key projects for the Basque education, research, and economy: the Basque European Spallation Neutron Source and the Basque Culinary Centre.

According to a statement of the Basque government, the foundation stone of the learning centre for gastronomic sciences is being laid at 1.00pm in Donostia-San Sebastián, while the headquarters of the Basque European Spallation Neutron Source will be presented at the University of the Basque Country in Leioa, Biscay, from 5.00pm onwards.

The Basque Culinary Centre hopes to make the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country and, in turn, the whole of Spain, an international reference for training, research, innovation and the transfer of knowledge and technology in the various fields of Culinary Sciences.

Expected to open in 2011, it will be located at the Technology Park of Miramón in Donostia-San Sebastián. Patxi López and Cristina Garmendia will be placing its foundation stone at 1.00pm.

The seat in the university campus of Leioa, for the Spallation Neutrons Source will include a technological centre for investigation, development and manufacture of accelerators; a testing laboratory, as a trial centre for the ESS; and a centre for the development of software including a remote access station so that scientists from around the world can carry out experiments.

Its official presentation is taking place at 5.00pm on Monday.
