The laboratory which will host the Spallation Neutron Source in Leioa, Biscay, will build scientific equipment to update the Large Hadron Collider in the city of Geneve, Switzerland.

Considered the biggest Spallation Neutron Source of the world, the Geneve station belongs to CERN, or the European Organization for Nuclear Research. The fabrication of acceleration structures is the result of an agreement between CERN and the Basque station, whose staff will be receiving specialized training and technology to carry out the project.

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the world''s largest and highest-energy particle accelerator, intended to collide opposing particle beams of either protons. It is expected that it will address the most fundamental questions of physics, hopefully allowing progress in understanding the deepest laws of nature.
