Basque chef Bixente Muñoz explains his own particular take on cookery in his new book Un Mundo de Sabores. The book is a compilation of 34 of the chef''s most internationally recognized recipes. Each of his suggestions can be found among the most popular and even prize-winning in which Muñoz fuses traditional cooking with avant-guard gastronomy.

According to the chef, his first publication, Un Mundo de Sabores, is not "an everyday cookbook". Its format is small, making it easy to handle and inside the reader can find recipes of various dishes from how to roast rabbit to a traditional recipe to instructions on how to prepare mushrooms stuffed with Idiazabal Cheese. Bixente Muñoz insists, however, that he chose "recipes that everyone can prepare at home". As such, cooking a delicious dish shouldn''t pose too many difficulties for those who purchase the book.

Un Mundo de Sabores, meanwhile, is not just about cookery. Bixente Muñoz has also used the pages of his first publication to go over his professional career and some of his experiences along the way. The book is also intended as an intimate portrait of its author, to which he brings his personal thoughts on the world of gastronomy. Furthermore, there is one chapter on the town of Hondarribia where Bixente Muñoz works. Neither does the chef forget to mention those whom he works alongside day-to-day: "A chef without his team is nothing," he says.

The book, priced 25 Euros, can be purchased via the bar Gran Sol website.
