Valdegovía Tourist Office offers visits to discover truffles

They are found in Álava and, though not always considered by traditional cuisine, have incorporated themselves vigorously into modern cooking.

Black truffle is one of the main treasures of Basque gastronomy. As it happened in last years, Valdegovía Tourist Office has arranged a series of tours to get acquainted with all connected with the mentioned delicacy. Cuadrilla de Añana is a favourable area to cultivate truffles.

The tour commences with an introductory lecture on truffles, which gives way to a trip to the countryside. A guide directs the visit together with a truffle-sniffing dog. In the course of the trip the dog will detect the spots where those specialities, giving a special touch to meals and very valued among cooks, can be located.

Guided tours on January 9th, 23rd and 24th; February 6th, 7th, 20th and 21st and March 6th and 7th. The lecture on truffle and tour cost 15 Euro whereas paying 25 Euro a delicious meal based on pintxos (small culinary masterpieces) and Rioja wine is added.
