Bilbao Symphony Orchestra plays benefit concert for Haiti

The Symphony Orchestra of Bilbao will dedicate Sunday 14th February to playing a concert for the NGO Médicos de Mundo, for which all money raised will go to Haiti.

On the afternoon of Sunday 14th February, Bilbao''s Euskalduna Palace will play host to a benefit concert entitled "Muévete" ("Get a move on") to raise money for the NGO Médicos del Mundo, who will then invest all money raised to helping the disaster-struck island of Haiti.

Bilbao Symphony Orchestra (BOS), together with with Choir of Bilbao, will give a rendition of Beethoven''s 9th Symphony. Also appearing will be Basque soprano Marta Ubieta, mezzo-soprano María José Suárez, tenor Joan Cabero and bass Fernando Latorre, all of whom will perform under the direction of Miguel Angel Gómez Martínez.

Also in Donostia-San Sebastian

The Basque Symphony Orchesta (OSE) and the San Sebastian Choral Society have also got together to prepare a further benefit concert for Haiti, this time in the Guipuzcoan capital''s famous Kursaal conference centre on 27th February. They hope to raise between 50,000 and 60,000 Euros, which will be donated to the Red Cross.
