Basque Country issues red alert for strong winds

Basque government's Interior Department will issue red alert on Saturday for strong winds that could reach 150 kilometer hours in the evening and Saturday night.

Wind will give us a brief break on Friday but the Basque Country will be on red alert risk on Saturday as there will be strong gusts of wind in exposed areas. There will be intense wind in the morning and light to moderate the rest of the day.

As Basque government''s Interior Department warned on Thursday, the Basque Country will be on red alert on Saturday afternoon for strong winds that could reach 150 kilometers per hour. The red alert will be activated until 04:00 on Sunday that will change to orange alert.

According to Basque Meteorology Agency (EUSKALMET), the Basque Country could be affected by ‘explosive cyclogenesis’ that will bring very strong gusts of south wind on Saturday night and Sunday morning. In mountain areas winds could reach 150 kilometers per hour and 120 in the rest of the Country.
