Portuguese Police on Friday arrested Andoni Zengotitabengoa, one of two ETA suspects who escaped at the beginning of February when their base was discovered in the town of Obidos, to the north of Lisbon, in which the armed group had been stockpiling almost 1,500 kilos of explosives, antiterrorist sources informed Europa Press.

At that time, police uncovered a large arsenal at the base, including explosive substances such as nitromethane, detonators and attachable bombs. The find was considered as evidence that the armed group had been trying to establish an infrastructure in Portugal.

Security forces found the flat following a call of a woman saying that the tenants who had rented her apartment in a tourist village had disappeared.

The suspected ETA-member was arrested at Lisbon airport attempting to board a plane to the Venezuelan capital of Caracas, the same sources informed. The suspect was apparently carrying false documentation at the time of arrest.
