Basque police arrested in the early morning 4 people in the Basque town of Getxo (Biscay) linked to Russian mafia raids operating in several European countries, according to Interior Department sources.

Up to now, Spanish police have arrested 24 people in Spain (most of the arrests were in the Catalan region of north-east Spain) and in total 69 people were arrested in Europe during the operation. Most of those arrested were Russian.

The Spanish operation, said to be ongoing, was carried out by the central drugs and organized crime unit and other regional security forces.
