The first ever International Comic Exhibition of Navarre has opened its doors, putting capital Pamplona under the global spotlight for comics for the next four weeks. Three exhibits will be on show focusing on artists Quino and Oroz, and on the Belgian comic.

Until 11th April, around thirty guests from around the globe, representing a diverse range of styles and trajectories, will take part in the initiative which aims to "give a new dimension to the artistic and creative reputation of the comic, putting it on the same level as other artistic forms, such as cinema, music, literature and visual arts".

This is the first time the Exhibition, organized by the Tiza Association, will be held in Pamplona. It will take place in three key stages, the first being the opening on Tuesday of three of the total seven displays to go on show over the next four weeks. The second, starting on 6th April, comprises a short season of films dedicated to Cuban cineaste Juan Padrón, as well as the opening of furthers exhibits on Pasqual Ferry and "Hate Jazz"; the third and last phase will be held between April 8th and 11th.

All activities take place at the Palacio del Condestable. Entrance is free, though for certain activities guests should present their tickets one hour prior to the start time. Among those attending the 1st International Comic Exhibition of Navarre are Howard Chaykin, the man behind the design for this year''s Exhibition poster; Argentine artists Horacio Altuna and Jorge Gonzalez, authors of the intense comic "Hate Jazz" - which has an important role at this year’s event - and British comic editor Harry Markos.

Activities on offer at this year''s event include a course, seminar and round table discussion on the theme of the comic.
