Spring season of Zinebiklub kicks off in Bilbao

Between April 15 and June 17, 49 short films, an experimental work and a full-length documentary will be projected as part of the Zinebiklub line-up.

This spring, between April 15th and June 17th, 49 shorts, as well as an experimental work and a full-length documentary can be seen within a series of films being shown at Zinebiklub, part of Zinebi, the International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Bilbao. The cycle of film screenings will be organized by the Council of Bilbao''s Cultural Division and can be seen at the Barrainkua Municipal Centre.

The first seven sessions of the spring Zinebiklub programme will comprise 41 short films competing in the International Zinebi Festival. On 15th April, visitors can see Wagah, Vainilla Chip, The Lady and the Reaper, The Last Rites, Marina, la esposa del pescador and Morgenrot; and on 22nd April, The Title Was Shot, Tulum, Les ventres, Bye Bye, c''est fini, El cheff and L''ambouba.

On the last Thursday of April, Listening to the Silences, Echo, Zachte planten, Mbeud-mi and John Wayne Hated Horses will be showing, while on the 7th May there will be another session of 7 films: What Are You Looking For?, Las pelotas, Drömar fran skogen, White Girls Happy on Zambezi, 50 Blue, Mama and Classes vertes. The 13th May showings will include Autopilot, Storstad, Anarekli, Dans nos veines, Kurjuuden kuningas and Farat while the 20th May will be the turn of Gone Fishing, Utanç, Spärni un airi, Schonzeit, Birthday and The Spine. On 27th May, visitors will be able to enjoy showings of Little Red Hoodie, A repüles története, Strangers, Dubbelt Utsatt and Borgerpleje.

The 3rd June programme will also focus on international shorts - except for one which will be showing as part of the Zinebi informative section on Basque cinema - which are Mandarin Peel, Variációk, Make Up, Like Father, Like Son, The Deaths of Chet Baker and DND, 841524. The 10th June session will combine another two works from the informative section of Basque cinema (Kurdos de Irak, vidas al margen and Bengoetxea, el luchador de Urbasa) and a special screening of the experimental Basque piece Glokal-Glocal by Aburres Team.

This latest programme from Zinebiklub will conclude on June 17th with a showing of the Basque documentary film Días de El Abanico by Miguel Angel Jiménez. Sessions will commence on Thursday at 7.30pm; entry is free.
