The latest edition of the oenologist''s guide The wine Advocate, edited by esteemed critic Robert Parker, has shown its appreciation for Txakoli wines from Biscay: Gurrutxaga 2009 and Uriondo 2009 both received marks of 91 points each, while another two Txakolis from the province, Agirrebeko and Itsasmendi, both from 2009, managed a score of 90 points in the same guide.

This assessment from wine critic Parker is a further guarantee of the wines'' "excellent" quality, given that Itsasmendi''s number 7 2008 recently received the "Bachuus de Oro", the highest accolade awarded by the Spanish Union of Wine Tasters, as well as the "Bachuus de Plata" for both the Itsasmendi 2009 and the Itsasmendi Urezti 2006.

Such praise and awards are becoming a frequent occurrence and place Biscay Txakoli among "quality" wines, while at the same time defining it as a "very original" wine, characterized by its "pleasant acidity, which leaves a lasting and well-balanced taste in the mouth".
