Hundreds of members of the Basque-American community of Boise packed the old gym of Borah High School, in Boise, for the Boiseko Gazteak Winter Show on Sunday afternoon.

The Winter Show, one of the most important events of the year for the Basque dance group, is also when the new dancers get to perform in front of their relatives and friends for the first time, some of them only after a few dance practices.

The show, which lasted about an hour, included several dances from the Nagusiak (11-14 years), the Txulitoak (6-7 years), the Azkarrak (8-10 years) and the youngest ones, the Txikutxuak.

Before it began, Linda Barinaga, who oversaw the Basque-American dance group for the past 11 years, thanked the Basque Museum and Cultural Center and the Fronton for providing them with a place for the dance practices. She also thanked Borah High School for hosting the Winter Show.

The show was followed by the arrival of the Olentzero to the Basque center. During this Christmas season, the members of the Basque community in Boise will also enjoy the Basque choir Christmas concert in St. John''s cathedral, the December dinner and the Sheeperders Ball.
