Azkena Rock Festival 2010 concludes with great success

More than 44,000 people attended Azkena Rock Festival 2010 during its three days, breaking the record set in 2006.

Azkena Rock Festival 2010 came to an end on Saturday night in the Basque city of Vitoria-Gasteiz. According to the organization, on the whole 44,433 people attended the concerts. On the first day, Thursday June 24th 9,124 tickets were sold. On the second day, Friday June 25th, 17,389 people gathered in Mendizabala. And on the third and last day, Saturday June 26th 17, 920 people attended the festival.

A total of 11 bands took to the two main stages of Azkena''s Mendizabala venue on the last day of the Rock Festival. Thus, El Vez, Elvis Presley and Kiss'' impersonator displayed his show on Saturday 26th. Concerts kicked off at 4.20pm with the Basque band from Gernika Audience with country, rock and pop rhythms. Maggot Brain played the Doug Fieger stage followed by The Cubical, with their music from the 60''s brought from Liverpool. The Russian Roulettes played on the Alex Chilton stage and Soloist Robert Gordon was next up with his primitive rock of the 50’s music. Bob Dylan closed Azkena Rock Festival 2010. Azkena Rock Festival 2010 concerts ended with the singer, actor and musician Chris Isaac, and the bands The Hives and Bad Religion.

10th anniversary in 2011

Azkena Rock Festival will celebrate its 10th anniversary next year. For this reason, a docummentary about the festival will be premiered. The film will be directed by the filmmaker Juanma Bajo Ulloa. Moreover, the organization will prepare a book about these ten years of Azkena Rock Festival.
