Seville’s Marina Alabau won Spain’s first gold medal of the 2012 London Olympics on Tuesday after coming first in the women’s RS:X windsurfing in Weymouth.

The Spaniard, who has proved impossible to beat in all previous rounds, got to the final Medal Race with a clear advantage and did not disappoint.

Finishing second in the race to claim silver was Finland’s Tuuli Petaja while the bronze medal went to Poland’s Noceti-Klepacka. Double Olympic champion, Israel’s Lee Korzits, finished the race in sixth place.
