Music was once again the main feature of this year's event, with major public attention at the daily concerts held in Sagües at 11.45pm, with groups such as Tequila, Despistaos and La Oreja de Van Gogh.

From 8th to 15th August, the Gipukoan capital of Donosti-San Sebastian will celebrate ''Big Week'' in style. Numerous cultural programmes will provide the entertainment day and night, the most significant of which will involve music.

The major concerts, and those which will doubtless attract most attention, are those playing from 11.45pm at the Sagüés, which on Saturday 8th will kick off with musical duo Nena Daconte. On the following days, the venue will play host to Tequila, Reincidentes, Despistaos, Ojos de Brujo, Gatibu, La Oreja de Van Gogh and Luz Casal respectively.

Other musical acts will include open-air dancing in the Paseo Nuevo at 9pm and at 12am in the Easo square in Amara. In the Kursaal, however, as well as outside in the Urumea and Zurriola terraces, will be music from dance DJs and chill-out music. On Friday 14th, the celebrated "Gaztea gaua" (youth night) will feature DJs Ohian Vega and DJ Makala on decks.

Theatre will also play its part in ''Big Week'': The Victoria Eugenia theatre will host various functions; between 5th-9th August you can enjoy Calcetines Opus 124, while from 10th-16th audiences can watch a version of The 39 steps.
