The capital of Guipuzcoa, San Sebastian, doesn''t forget Gonzalo Chillida. Just over one year since his death, his works continue to remain close to the Basques'' hearts. The Ekain Art Gallery, in the old part of the city, opens an exhibition on Tuesday with works on paper completed by Gonzalo, brother of sculptor Eduardo Chillida.

Born in San Sebastian in 1926, the artist was known mainly for his scenically atmospheric and spiritually ambient compositions. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid, it was in Paris where he continued to broaden his knowledge. After returning to the Basque Country, he lived and worked in the Guipuzcoan capital, painting and exhibiting scenic works.

From Tuesday 18th August until Wednesday 30th September, the Ekain gallery will play host to the exhibition "Gonzalo Chillida: works on paper", which will open at 7.30pm on the first day. Within the exhibition, visitors may appreciate around forty works on paper completed by the artist between 1950 and 1975.
