Manhattan Short Film Festival, in Bilbao

On 25th September, EITB's Bilbao headquarters will be one of the hosts of the 12th Annual Manhatten Short Film Festival. The act will commence at 8pm to be presented by Felix Linares.

EITB Bilbao''s Multibox theatre hall has been chosen as the venue for this year''s Manhatten Short Film Festival, an event in which all five continents will participate between 20th and 27th September. At 8pm on 25th September in Bilbao, audiences will be able to watch short films from ten finalists after which they will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite one. From all the globe, a total of 173 cities will be taking part in the poll.

The Manhattan Short Film Festival is considered one of the best advocates of international short films. Established in New York, it receives around 500 entries from around the world every year. "One world, one week, one festival" is the slogan that sums up the philosophy behind the event; the aim is to promote the short-film format, as well as encourage its creators and offer spectators from around the globe to participate in a common project.

Since 2007, Bilbao has taken part in this cinematographic adventure, which has now extended within Spain to Barcelona, Madrid, Salamanca and Vícar.

Organisers of the event have made public their selection of the 10 finalist works, which include two Spanish works: Miente, by Isabel Ocampo and Parking by Jorge Molina.

- Lashabiya, Yehezkel Lazarov, fiction
- Hammerhead, Sam Donovan, fiction

Following the event, spectators will vote for their favourite short. The votes will be counted in each venue and the results sent to central headquarters in New York, where the winner will be announced followed the final projection in Union Square Park, New York, on 27th September.
