124 films to show at 10th Festival of Cinema in Pamplona

For the first time, the Navarre-based competition will include a short-film section and tributes will go to Actor Alex Angulo and film critic Miguel Urabayen.

The 10th Pamplona International Film Festival, taking place between 5th and 10th October, will screen a total of 124 films and, for the first time, include a section dedicated to showing short films from around the world.

The 124 films to be screened next week were picked from a total of 608 pictures. Aside from Spanish-made films, creations have been received from over 20 countries.

Films will be showing several venues throughout the city including the Civivox in Iturrama and Condestable, at the Navarra Youth Institute and at the Saide cinemas. During the week, full-length features, short films and documentaries will all compete for one of the competition''s seven awards, which, between, are worth a total of 14,100 euros in prize-money.

Short films make their debut

For the first time, the Pamplona International Film Festival will offer a selection of short works of fiction from around the world, all of which have received awards in previous competitions. The new section will be known as ''Alternatif Internacional'', though the films will not be up for award. Short films from Navarre will have their own section, called ''Cortijo'' which will offer a selection of twenty short works from the region.

Double tribute

In this, the tenth edition of the Pamplona Film Festival, tributes will be awarded to two men: the actor Alex Angulo and film critic Miguel Urabayen. The 83-year-old from Pamplona recently published his 8000th review.
