The Velvet Underground reunites in New York

Next month, three members of the legendary band The Velvet Underground will reunite for a chat at an event organised by the New York Public Library.

Frontman Lou Reed, drummer Maureen "Moe" Tucker and bassist Doug Yule will share a stage for the first time in more than ten years.

The three of them will discuss The Velvet Underground''s music and legacy with Rolling Stone senior editor David Fricke. Fricke wrote the liner notes for the 1995 box set of the band. He described their music as “inventing modern rock”.

The band members will promote a The Velvet Undergound: New York Art, a coffee-table book in which you can find previoulsy unseen photographs, press clippings, flyers, posters, copies of Reed''s handwritten lyrics, and designs by Andy Warhol.It also includes a transcript of a conversation between Tucker and Reedm and a contribution by former Czech president Válcav Havel, who is a big fan of the Velvet Underground.

The other Velvet Underground member John Cale will not be present at the event.

To witness the reunion of this legendary band, you can now buy your tickets. The panel discussion will be held at the Stephen A Schwarzman library in New York on 8 December.
