Over 13,000 people followed live coverage of the final which took place in the Bilbao Exhibition Centre, and witnessed Andoni Egaña claiming his fourth txapela.

This year the championship took place at BEC again. Maialen Lujanbio, a 33-year old woman from Hernani won the ''txapela'' in the 2009 Bertsolaritza Championship final. She scored 1,965 points. Lujanbio competed in the last part against&' || 'nbsp; Amets Arzallus.
