The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao has incorporated a 1967 sculpture by Jacques Lipchitz --born Aug. 10, 1891, Druskininkai, Lithuania, Russian Empire-- to its own collection thanks to a donation from the Lipchitz Jacques &' || 'amp; Yull Foundation.

Working model for Government of the People is the more advanced study of one of the most significant public projects projected by Lipchitz, the Government of the People. It was commissioned in 1967 by the City of Philadelphia for the square of its town hall.

The donation enriches the Guggenheim Bilbao museum''s collection given that it is one of the last works of the sculptor and is made of plaster, an essential material to understand the artist''s creative process.

A key material in the process of Lipchitz''s artistic production, he created more than 400 pieces with plaster. As the artist used to say, this material "is used to make casts for bronze, but they host the artist''s trace, the most personal thing."
