The municipal centre of the Begoña district in the Basque city of Bilbao is hosting a photography exhibition focused on Shangai. All the images belong to publicity and industrial photographer Mikel Alonso, who is said to be one of the best culinary photographers in Spain.

The collection consists of 20 large format pictures (90 x 60) printed on dibond (lightweight material used for printing directly onto in the signage and display industry) which reflect the transformation of the bustling, lively and colourful Chinese city.

According to Alonso, the images are the result of his strolls around the metropolis in the spring of 2008. The photographs show the dynamism of the markets, the port of Shangai, and the contrasts among the old quarters and the new city.

Shanghai will be on show at the municipal centre of Begoña until February 12th. From February 15th to 26th it will visit Otxarkoaga centre and from March 1st to 15th, the San Francisco''s centre premises. The last opportunity to admire the pictures will be at the Barrainkua centre in the district of Abando from March 16th to 31st.
