Two people have been gored and at least four more injured in falls in the second running of the bulls of the famed the San Fermin fiesta.

Navarra Hospital''s Dr. Fernando Boneta says one man is seriously injured after being gored in the thorax. He says another man has been gored in the leg and is in better condition. Four more people have been hospitalized in Pamplona for injuries, mostly from bruises sustained in falls during the run Thursday.

The names and nationalities of the runners gored were not immediately available.

Thousands took part in the dash to keep ahead of six fighting bulls and six bell-tinkling steers tasked with trying to keep the beasts together along the 930-yard (850-meter) course from a holding pen to the northern town''s bull ring.

Last year''s festival saw the first goring death in nearly 15 years. The fiesta became a big international event after Ernest Hemingway wrote about it in his 1926 novel, The Sun Also Rises.
