The 34th edition of Vitoria-Gasteiz Jazz Festival welcomes very special guests today: Joe Sample &' || 'amp; Randy Crawford. They will all be performing at Mendizorrotza Sports Arena.

The singer Randy Crawford is a legend of the black music with roots in the jazz, soul and R&' || 'amp;B. She achieved a great success with The Crusaders and the song Street Life. Her last Cd with Joe Sample, No Regrets has a pure blues sound.

Joe Sample is one of the great fusion piano players. He co founded the Jazz Crusaders with Wayne Henderson, Wilton Felder and Stix Hooper. A contemporary jazz pioneer, he goes back to jazz and soul roots creating a great personal style performing the music of the jazz classics. Who can forget his piano solo cover of Fat Waller''s Ain’''t Be Misbehaving in that unforgettable Legends'' concert (Marcus Miller, Eric Clapton, David Sanborn, Joe Sample and Steve Gadd).

Chick Corea &' || 'amp; Freedom Band are also playing at the 34th edition of Vitoria-Gasteiz Jazz Festival. Chick Corea has been awarded with 12 Grammy Awards and he is one of the most important jazz musician of the last four decades.

A master of the piano who together with Herbie Hancock and Keith Jarrett is considered one of the pianist to emerge after Bill Evans and McCoy Tyner. His musical curiosity has led him to explore many and different styles and direction changes. Now he presents a supergroup featuring:

Kenny Garrett, who played for the first time in Vitoria in Miles Davis'' group, and who is possibly the most brilliant and inspired alto sax player on the jazz scene. He is able to combine strength and lyricism, and his last album, recorded live, received great and unanimous reviews.

Christian McBride made his debut in Vitoria in 1991 when he was 19 years old, in the first edition of the Jazz of the 21st Century, and he was the best bass player in the 2009 Down Beat Poll; the legendary drummer Roy Haynes completes the line-up. For more than 50 years, Roy has been an influenced and an innovator in jazz. He has performed with Louis Armstrong and Miles Davis, from Lester Young and Charlie Parker to John Coltrane, from Monk to Chick Corea, or from Sarah Vaughan to Ella Fitzgerald.
