The diversity and vitality of the year''s Spanish production to be unveiled in the 19 movies comprising Made in Spain.

The big winner at the Goya Awards, box-office hits, the promising debut from young directors, films to have participated in international festivals and minority proposals, with particular accent on non fiction cinema, highlight the diversity and vitality of the Spanish cinema proposed by Made in Spain. This San Sebastian Festival section brings a showcase of the Spanish movies of the year, with 19 films, some of which have yet to enjoy their Spanish premiere.

This selection includes recent works from established directors including Julio Medem (Habitación en Roma (Room in Rome), Dunia Ayaso and Félix Sabroso (La isla interior (The Island Inside), Miguel Albadalejo (Nacidas para sufrir (Born to Suffer ), Jaume Balaguero and Paco Plaza (REC 2) and Daniel Monzon (Celda 211 (Cell 211).

Directors to have released their first features will also be strongly represented in Made in Spain: Emilio Aragon (Pájaros de papel (Paper Birds); Lluís Galter (Caracremada); Anna Sanmartí (La terra habitada (The Inhabited Land); Jordi Ferrer and Pablo Vidal (El problema, testimonio del pueblo saharaui (The Problem, Testimony of the Saharawi People); Lilian Rosado González (Donde el olor del mar no llega (Where the Smell of the Sea Doesn’t Reach); Félix Fernández de Castro (María y yo (Maria and I) and Oskar Santos (El mal ajeno (For the Good of Others).

This selection simply had to reflect the importance acquired by non fiction cinema in today’s Spanish cinema, an example of which are María y yo (Maria and I), Fake Orgasm, La terra habitada (The Inhabited Land), Esquivar y pegar (Dodge and Hit), El problema -testimonio del pueblo saharaui (The Problem, Testimony of the Saharawi People) and Cerca de tus ojos.

Made in Spain complements the presence of Spanish cinema in the Official Selection and Zabaltegi, as already announced: Aita, by José María de Orbe, Elisa K, by Judith Colell and Jordi Cadena, El Gran Vázquez (The Great Vázquez), by Óscar Aibar and Pa negre (Black Bread) by Agustí Villaronga will all be screened in the Official Selection, while Blog, by Elena Trapé and Izarren Argia (Stars to Wish Upon), by Mikel Rueda will participate in Zabaltegi-New Directors and Guest, by José Luis Guerín and La noche que no acaba (All Night Long) by Isaki Lacuesta can be seen in Zabaltegi-Specials.
