Basque short film 'Ahate pasa' wins 2nd prize at Kansk Film Festival

Other two short films -5 recuerdos and Amona putz! from Kimuak 2009 catalogue- also participated in the IX International Kansk Video Festival that took place from August 22nd to 28th.

Basque director Koldo Almadoz'' short film and docummentary Ahate pasa/Duck Crossing (Kimuak), won the second prize at the International Kansk Video Festival (Russia).

Besides, other two short films participated in the IX International Kansk Video Festival that took place from August 22nd to 28th: 5 recuerdos by Oriana Alcaine and Alejandra Marquez and Amona putz! Inflatable Grandma by Telmo Esnal, both from Kimuak 2009 catalogue. Kimuak is a Basque Government programme managed by the Filmoteca Vasca devoted to the international promotion and diffusion of Basque short films.

The main prize of the ninth edition of the International Kansk Video Festival was for the Catalonian producer Gerard Freixes with the short film The Homogenics. Moreover, Nicholas Steiner was given a first prize for Ich bin''s Helmut and the prize for local author was for Alexei Akimov''s Googles Says and Shows.

International Kansk Video Festival is not a conventional film festival. The small Siberian city of Kansk, was found on the Internet by chance and selected as its name correlates with the Cannes Film Festival, Kansk in the Russian language is pronounced the same as Cannes. The festival promotes new names of independent and uncompromising video and filmmakers.
