I never thought in my life that I would be here tonight. I'm very grateful to the Spanish Academy for thinking on me and including me tonight," Hayek said.

Pedro Almodovar's movie about an amoral plastic surgeon who takes terrifying revenge on the young man who rapes his daughter earned four awards. "The reason at least for me to work is not just to give an award or to receive an award but in this case is always a celebration. I'm very happy, I'm very happy," the Spanish director said before the ceremony.

Handsome leading man Antonio Banderas could not win his first Goya for depicting the surgeon who creates a synthetic skin in Almodovar´s film.
