Twenty-five Basques that have in common having been victims of violence coming from groups of different political sign signed on Saturday a manifesto that requests the acknowledgement of the pain caused, the acceptance of responsibilities and the establishment of peace based on truth, justice, memory, acknowledgement and reparation.

The manifesto, named as Iniative of Glenncree after the name of the Irish place where it kicked off in 2007, marks the first time victims of violence coming from groups of different political sign were put together.

Signatories to the manifesto gathered for the first time together victims of the armed Basque group ETA, death squad GAL, the right-wing paramilitary group Basque Spanish battalion or people that have suffered police tortures.

The statement points out that the violence they all suffered is "unjustifiable" and for that reason they call for "the acknowledgement of the pain caused, the acceptance of responsibilities and the establishment of peace based on truth, justice, memory, acknowledgement and reparation" for all of them in a fair way"
