Lagun Aro GBC fall short on 74-73 loss at Asefa Estudiantes

Albert Oliver scored for 2 points with just two seconds left to help Asfa Estudiantes to a 74-73 win over Lagun Aro GBC. Carlos Suarez led the winners with 19 points and 9 rebounds Gabriel added 13 points and Jasen had 12.

For Lagun Aro GBC, Lorbek scored 14 points and Ignerski and Barbour had 13 points each.

Estudiantes made an storming start to the game and added a 16-0 run in the first minutes. After the first 10 minutes, Estudiantes led 28-14. Then, the Basques reacted and added a 2-13 run. At half-time, the scoreboard was 43-39.

Lagun Aro took the lead in the third quarter and opened a seven-point gap on the 28th minute but Estudiantes tied the game in the last quarter, 60-60.

The last minutes were dramatic and every ball counted. Oliver scored with 2 seconds left to give Estudiantes the lead and the Basques were not even able to try to score in that time.

74 - Asefa Estudiantes (28+15+15+16): Oliver (9), Suarez (19), Caner-Medley (3), Gabriel (13) and Lofton (6) -starting five-, Jasen (12), Granger (2), Clark (2), Driesen (2) and Popovic (6).

73 - Lagun Aro GBC (14+25+21+13): Hopkins (2), Detrick, Uriz (6), Panko (8) and Doblas (1) -starting five-, Sanchez, Miralles (14), Ignerski (13), Barbour (13), Lorbek (14) and Lopez (2).
