Lagun Aro GBC breathed fresh life into the ACB league race to avoid relegation at the end of the season with a 71-60 win over leaders Regal Barcelona on Saturday evening. The Basques have a record of 11 wins and 19 defeats, while Xacobeo Blu: Sens have 8 wins and 21 defeats.

David Doblas with 18 points led the winners. Barbour added 13 and Ignerski had 11. For Regal Barcelona, Lorbek scored 17 points, Lakovic had 14 and Rubio added 11.

The Basques made an storming start to the game scoring three straight three-pointers and led 22-14 at the end of the first quarter. Lagun Aro kept the gap on the scoreboard at halftime, 38-29 and seized a double-digit lead in the third quarter.

Barcelona, through Lakovic, reacted well and trailed by 9 points before the last 10 minutes. They cut the deficit to 5 points but Lagun Aro had the greater stamina in the end to regain control of the game and secure an almost definitive win to be in the ACB league next year.
