On Sunday February 14th, Espejo, in Álava, will be holding the 18th edition of the annual Potato Fair. Those who approach the small area of  Valdegovía will have the chance of purchasing high quality and locally grown potatoes. Moreover, every year the region honours a local figure.

Moreover, Boilur (Álava's Federation of Gastronomic Societies) has prepared a gastronomic tasting that without doubt, will delight the most discerning palates. The fair does not just come down to the field of gastronomy, the programme also includes handicrafts, exhibitions, contests, talks and herri-kirolak exhibitions (rural sports), as well as workshops for the children.

Top products

Valdegovía grows two of the most important tubers in gastronomy: potato and truffle. The potato that is grown in Alava has been awarded Eusko Label protected designation of origin, which is very popular across Spain.

Moreover, the exquisite truffle is one of the most expensive products. Important chefs make use of it for their recipes. From December to February, Valdegovía arranges guided tours.
