Horror and Fantasy Film Festival in San Sebastián

In the official sections of the 20th Horror and Fantasy Film Festival of Donostia-San Sebastián, which is being held until Friday, November 6, the awards event brings together the best short and feature-length films of 2009 in the fantasy and horror genres. The festival will open with the French-made Vertige, by Abel Ferry, and within the Official Section, the following films can also be seen: Infestation, Clive Barker's Dread, Grace, The House of Devil, Mutants, Pandorum and Sword of the Stranger among others. Japanese Noburo Iguchi will be closing the event with RoboGeisha.

This year's event also features a season entitled Metal Hurlant and Fantasy Cinema, a homage to the famous French comics anthology Metal Hurlant, in which viewers may watch such legendary films as Alien, Barbarella and The Fifth Element. There will also be various exhibitions: one which is dedicated to animator Samuel Orti, from Valencia, another which recalls the last two decades of the festival (through which have passed such famous names as Peter Jackson, Brian Yuzna, Robert Englund and Bill Plympton) and the third one, a compilation of drawings by Eva Conde, from San Sebastián.

The festival will also welcome its fifth Comic Book Encounter and, as is becoming the custom, part of the programme will also be devoted to the smallest audience members. The section entitled "Euskadi Fantaskikoa" is dedicated to Alex Orbe and Manu Ortega.
