On Wednesday November 18, the so-called Palace of the Prince in Monaco is hosting the ceremony in which Basque dancer Asier Uriagereka is being decorated with the Order of Cultural Merit by the princes of the European principality.

Born in Mungia, Biscay,  where he started dance studies at the age of 9, Uriagereka joined the Ballet de Monte Carlo in 2001. Three years later, he was appointed the main dancer of the company.

The 34-year-old got the Prix of Lausanne (a prestigious dance competition in Switzerland), a fact that allowed him to continue his career at the Royal Ballet School of London. He also worked with the Birmingham Royal Ballet before joining the Ballet de Montecarlo.
