Somali pirate Abdu Willy returned to the youth wing of Madrid's Alcala-Meco prison on Wednesday after fourteen days spent in a juvenile detention centre. Willy, who stands accused of assisting in the hijack of Basque fishing boat the Alakrana, testified at the High Court before Judge Santiago Pedraz. Pending the case of the public prosecutor, Pedraz ordered the youth be taken to prison.

Adbu Willy will stand trial as an adult and have to answer to 36 counts of illegal seizing and carrying away of persons against their will - one for each crew member kidnapped on the Indian Ocean - illegal association, robbery with violence and use of arms.

The decision taken by Pedraz finally marks the end of fifteen days of legal wrangling, medical analysis and forensic reports regarding the actual age of Abdu Willy.
