World's two most important federations of Basque organizations meet for the first time in their history this weekend in Mar de Plata (Argentina). On the one hand the Federation of Basque-Argentinean Organizations -FEVA-
Which brings together 99 Basque centers nowadays, and The North American Basque Organizations -NABO- which works in order to promote Basque heritage.
Several meetings were organized last year prior to the one held this weekend. These meetings took place in Bilbao (Biscay, Basque Country) within the World Congress of Basque Communities.
In an interview (Spanish) in "Más Que Palabras" program in the Basque radio station Radio Euskadi, FEVA's president, Felipe Eyheraguibel, underlined the subjects to be raised in the meeting, among them the possible creation of the Confederation of the Basque Organizations which already existed some time ago, the identity, young people, Internet new web site (www.euskaletxeak.net), Basque dances and Basque language -Euskera-.
Eyheraguibel confirmed that up to now, the contact between both organizations has not been "strong" and they have not had "many encounters". They have only got in touch to inform each other about both organizations' activities and their Webs.
FEVA's president stressed that this weekend they "will kick off some contacts that they hope will become more and more strong".
