Eduardo Antonio Puelles Garcia, the Spanish National officer killed on Friday's morning after a bomb attached to the underside of his car detonated as he started the engine in a parking lot in the town of Arrigorriaga, Biscay, was a renowned officer.

In Jose Antonio Calleja's words, "he was a good policeman and a good Basque with 16 years of experience at the information department, fighting against ETA." Calleja is the National Communication Secretary for the Professional Police union-SPP. Puelles had joined the union some time ago.

Anyway, above all, Puelles was a married father of two, he was bilingual in Basque and Spanish and was preparing his promotion to chief inspector. He was a police inspector since April 2002.

As the SPP union said, "he had worked in most of the police units, street violence, analysis, ETA, and so on."
