French police arrest suspected member of ETA

French police arrested a suspected member of the armed Basque group ETA on Monday evening in the region of Vienne, south of France, antiterrorist sources told several news agencies.

The suspect, identified as Zuhaitz Errasti Goiti, was arrested after the car he was driving broke down near the French town of Poitiers.

The suspect, who was armed, claimed to be an ETA member when he was asked for the documentation of the car.

Monday's arrest follows the arrest of the suspected political leader of ETA, Aitor Elizaran, and his partner Ohiane San Vicente, last Monday in Carnac (France).
