Eitb.com's Multimedia Special Issue on Climate Change was awarded at the 4th edition of the Tecnalia Journalism Awards. The Basque public internet site's work, directed by Lontzo Sainz, got a 3,000 euro prize at the ceremony that took place in Bilbao on Monday.

Eitb.com and the Basque Department of Environment and Land management, co-producers of the multimedia work, called the schools of the Basque Country for a contest in which the pupils have to look into the issue in order to prepare different essays. The best work will be awarded with 3,000 euro, which is the money amount that eitb.com received for its labor.
The Special Multimedia Issue contains infographics, virtual tours around the Sahara desert and Perito Moreno glacier, 3D animations and a calculator of the impact of human activity on the environment.

The main Tecnalia Journalism award was for Baltasar Montaño for the 'How much does a kilowatt cost?' essay. Other prizes were given to journalists like Ignacio A. Castillo, Gonzalo Estefanía and Arantza Lezamiz.

200 works aspired to get a prize in an edition that counted on an important echo. According to the jury, the level was very high and the Multimedia Special Issue made by eitb.com was "brilliant" due to the fact that it joins elegant infographics with video to reach a compact and comprehensive informative product.

The work was also awarded with the first prize at the NH contest 'The best of Spanish and Portuguese Journalism' in November. Another eitb.com work for hiru.com got silver prize at the same encounter.
